Outline
To achieve carbon neutrality, more than 900 local governments have committed to achieving zero carbon cities by 2050. Each region needs to draw up scenarios for the future and develop a strategic plan to realize combined value, including decarbonization. On the other hand, each region lacks knowledge on technologies and evaluation methods that can bring about synergistic effects across policies, as well as tools that can be used universally based on regional characteristics.
In light of this, from the perspective of promoting decarbonization and re-urbanization of each region in an integrated manner, this research project is building a foundation and system to promote initiatives for the integrated improvement of the environment, economy, and society by taking a cross-sectional view of the policy fields centered on energy, mobility, and construction stock, and creating a system that can be used universally for regional planning, while taking into account the characteristics of each region.
This project is a project adopted in FY2021 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) under its program for "Research and Development for Accelerating Local Climate Actions in Partnership of Universities" (FY2021–FY2025, Representative organization: The University of Tokyo).
